Its freezing cold and I’m running late.  I’m wrapped in one of my warmest down filled coats and rushing carefully (icy streets) through the meatpacking district.  Checking address numbers which really don’t exist in the MPD.  I spy my friend Kristopher Ong dressed in chic winter garb and also looking for 29 Ninth Avenue.

You can hear the DJ’s dance music and roar of the 200+ design professionals at the AXOR showroom as you walk upstairs to the spacious second floor studio.  Metropolis Magazine and AXOR are hosting an event called “Game Changers 2014”.  Honoring ; Eric Owen Moss, Phil Jones, Alastair Parvin, Johnathan F.P. Rose and Susan Weber for their design contributions.

Once I removed my big coat and sipped (gulped) my first glass of white wine . . . . . it was time to rock this scene. Chardonnay or Cabernet only along with delicious tray pass sandwiches, crab cakes and an inventive cheese and fruit table were available at the festive event.

There was an interesting mix of “downtown chic”along with “bridge n tunnel luxe” and “Hells Kitchen madness”.  Susan S. Szenasy, Editor in Chief for Metropolis began speaking about 7:30 to acknowledge those being honored.  She touted her popular magazine as being cutting edge and thanked her loyal team for their support during her more than 20 years at the helm.  Did I mention she also called my name as the first door prize winner of the magnificent AXOR Hansgrohe Raindance shower head . . . . . .   jealous??

Thank you Metropolis Magazine and AXOR Design Studio – we enjoyed your lively, hip and very professional gathering.
