Çınar hosted a stylish –Turkish affair to celebrate the opening of their fashionable luxury carpet salon.
Mia Gargiulo + Mehmet Çınar have created a chic and poetic rug gallery in the heart of Manhattan’s midtown design district at 231 E. 58th. The incubation for this US Flagship store extended for more than a year, but the results bestow an elegant and fresh parlor for luxury carpets.
In 2012 the company began a business collaboration in the U.S. with Mia Gargiulo, introducing Çınar to the American design community through private showings in Chicago and New York. Followed by representation at The Bright Group (NYC and Boston) and Town Studio (Denver and Scottsdale) showrooms. Today, it is under Ms. Gargiulo’s direction that the vision of Çınar’s own flagship store in New York City has come to fruition.
The space was designed by architect Javier de la Garza (AIA Design Award Recipient) and interior designer Charlie Martial. It has a charming intimate reception area in the storefront with a graceful deco-like staircase. There is a fetching interactive lounge area with iPad stations on the wall. Just beyond the long gallery wall is the party room, pardon me, the main room.
In the main room, the party had live music provided by a Turkish band and scrumptious Turkish bites. I spied Pia and Gloria Gargiulo, Paul Melo, Stephanie Odegard, Brian Snow, Ahmet Cinar, Pelin Cinar, Funda Cinar, Lauren Taschen, Michelle Berkowitz, Sabine Matzen, Katharina Plath, Steven Rappos, Jessica Robb and Peter Kubilus. The well dressed crowd of more than 80 design enthusiast networked, socialized and danced until the wee hours of the night.
