Have you ever been in an environment that evokes conversation?
There is something about NeueHouse an awesome space on East 25th that will keep you talking.
NeueHouse is a new concept in shared work spaces designed for entrepreneurs in creative industries. A shout out to hospitality models, Rockwell Group designed an open plan and flexible facility to promote collaboration and creativity among teams and entrepreneurs. Built in 1913 this renovated industrial building includes a cellar level, ground floor and three upper levels dedicated to office space.
The rustic, yet modern 50,000-square-foot space was designed by David Rockwell. The top floors serve as offices for small companies with up to 10 employees. Surface Magazine and designer, Jon Call to name drop.
Speaking of UPSTAIRS – its kind of juxtaposed with ragtime office romance . . . .industrial looking frosted glass enclosures that whisper vintage warehouse but speak cathedral atmosphere.
The main floor features library like lounge furniture as well as a restaurant / coffee bar. Rumor has it the basement includes a full kitchen, a screening room and a self-enclosed recording studio and broadcast facility (I’m ready for my close up).
There are 300 gallery memberships at this location—at $1,000 a month each . . ..they’ve already sold out. Other memberships include $400 to visit NeueHouse 10 days a month, with unlimited evenings and weekends and $200 for the use of the place three days a month. Many gallery members are on a waiting list for office space.
I overheard there are plans for a larger location in downtown New York and possibly Los Angeles. (I didn’t realize that LA had creative people too?).
Speaking of creative people . . . . David Rockwell is celebrating 30 years of design. He is the founder and CEO of Rockwell Group, a firm based in New York with satellite offices in Madrid and Shanghai. The Chicago born designer is a creative superstar with a bevy of design awards. He has a reputation for creating chic, clever and conversational spaces. Rockwell and his eclectic team have numerous design projects of retail, restaurants, hospitals, theatres and museums as well as Emmy Award wining set designs.
Guess who else turns 30 ? . . . DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is one of the country’s largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS. Merging care and commerce, supporters of DIFFA come from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design.
Shout out to :Dawn Robinson and Steven Williams – the hardworking and fashionable DIFFA team members.
The 30th Anniversary Launch party hosted a fully stocked open bar with Margaritas as the cocktail du jour. Since the food was prepared on the premises, you could literally watch the chef pop scrumptious appetizers into the oven. Bravo ….Cindy Allen, DIFFA, Rockwell Group and all those fantastic supporters who made the party a blast . . .
Speaking of fantastic supporters . . . . .
