Jeremy Silva creates glass sculptures in bold colors and fluid shapes that reflect his Hawaiian origin. He describes them as “living creatures” and laughingly insist there be no reference to a “vase”. Each of these sub aquatic sculptures are completely one of a kind. Jeremy’s studio ‘honuany’ infuses brilliant blues, radiant reds, glorious greens along with an array of other island colors to create striking, creature-like glass objects.
As a beach lover – it’s easy to grasp and admire the objects as sea elements. They would blend and adorn whether submerged or on shore. As a design enthusiast – you can feasibly imagine a variety of environments where the organic shapes and rich colors could live and imbue.
Jeremy combined forces with talented Painter, William Engel to provide a powerful and well appointed art story. The Honua Art Gallery and Design Studio is on the 23rd floor of a Deco inspired Manhattan high-rise in the bustling theatre district. The moment we stepped off the grand elevator you could hear the boisterous chatter of the enthusiastic and well attended event. I spied design notables like Benjamin Noriega, Steven Wine, John Eason, Arlene Angard, Annie Block, Randall Tarasuk, Brooks Collier and Indira Lourenco.
There were whispers about the growing list of art collectors who’ve discovered these bellowing bulbous beauties. I giggled with Jeremy’s Aunt Mariah who mentioned, “When he was about 8 months, I dropped him in the ocean and watched as he started floating and adapting to the environment.”

Jeremy’s visions of the black sands and vibrant sunsets of Kahena Beach – have inspired his hand blown glass vessels. Each object – each sculpture – each creation is like no other !
