THURSDAY FEBRUARY 4TH 2016 52 DEGREES 4:11pm
200 Lexington Avenue hosted a design event on the 5th and 7th floors of the 16 story structure. “Live on 5” and “7th Heaven Design” both started in the afternoon and continued through the night with guest speakers, panelists and product reveals for Designers and Architects.
Our journey started in the lounge (ground floor) of the long established design trade building. “Why can’t someone fix up this ‘cafe-deli’ space and make it really cool” I whispered to myself as I walked in to meet my design buddy Justin Shaulis. Justin responded to my comment which let me know I did not whisper.
After a quick mingle with Justin, Tamara Mathews Stephenson, Jessica Robb and Carrie Leskowitz – we bid superstar designer Jamie Drake a good day and then took the elevator up to 7th Heaven. The New Traditionalists showroom was a cool on trend way to begin our float through the various design showrooms.
We skipped down to the 5th floor just in time hear the beginning of Patti Carpenter’s “global lens” presentation at Cliff Young. Shortly after we squeezed through the crowded CF MODERN space to catch the panel discussion lead by Charles Pavarini III. The Tucker Robbins Brancusi inspired furniture studio introduced inspirational new art from Story Tellers and textiles by Dara Artisans.
Brand Ambassador for Currey & Co., Denise McGaha gave a newsworthy powerpoint presentation that explained her clever approach to fashion and design. It seems the future is so bright at Currey & Co. sunglasses were needed to avoid the glare.
We had just one more glass of wine at the Theodore Alexander showroom where handsome Bobby Berk introduced his TEMPAPER wallpaper. Then it was off to the after party at some saloon where I think I may have been 2 stepping with a few of the waitresses.
