Trend alert: the classic garden party is back in style.  You don’t need “sweet tea” or a “tea dance” to gather a good fashion crowd these days.  Emmett McCarthy, well -known fashion designer and owner of the long established NoLIta store Emmett McCarthy/EMc2, hosted a book signing party in his urban courtyard for the spectacular blogging duo Tom Fitzgerald and Lorenzo Marquez.

The pop culture blog Tom and Lorenzo started posting their humorous introspective about Project Runway in 2006, originally calling their blog “Project Rungay.”  Now the “Tom and Lorenzo” site has evolved to cover a fashion mix of their favorite television shows; Rupaul’s Drag Race, Dowton Abbey, Mad Men, Red -Carpet fashion and so much more.

It is no big secret about the popularity of Tom and Lorenzo’s site. Hundreds of loyal readers and followers lined up on Saturday afternoon for a humorous chat, to pose for a group selfie and to purchase the new book, “Everyone Wants to Be Me or Do Me”. Enthusiastic chatter hummed over the urban garden attached to the back of the EMc2 store.  All shapes,sizes, colors and generations were represented and that’s just the fashion.

The book: ‘Everyone Wants to Be Me or Do Me.”  takes the air out of celebrity worship, offers inspiring style advice, and empowers the reader with humorous insights, all at the same time. The paperback was available for $17.50.  There was refreshing Mas de la Dame rose wine, sparkling water, assorted sandwiches and a wonderful whimsical wedding cake (the duo were married in the same garden almost a year ago).

The Garden Party was a big success. Thank you Emmett, Tom and Lorenzo for bringing back a little afternoon delight on a gorgeous Spring day.  Your event was a colorful reminder that daytime gatherings can be festive and fashionable.
