Finally, the anticipation is over for Housing Works sensational Design on a Dime kick off party. Our efforts to make it to the ARHAUS showroom in the Meatpacking District did not disappoint. Since 1986, Arhaus has maintained its furniture design center in the heart of the Midwest. With stores in more than 40 cities around the country, they take deep pride in their American roots, yet also cultivate a diverse international perspective. Combining traditional practices with eco-conscious and forward-looking design brings an extensive collection of quality home furniture and accessories.
Okay – that Arhaus showroom was so big that when we walked in through the West door we were in the Meatpacking district and when we walked out the east door we were in the Village. And so begins the much anticipated annual Spring event known as Design on a Dime.

There is a fun and exhilarating challenge of collecting home furnishing donations and incorporating the product into a themed room. Just 13 hours is allotted for set-up in the 60,000 sq ft Metropolitan Pavilion. The “design” pressure is on !!!
The lively kick off party gathered all the players for this years 10th Anniversary celebration. Michael Boodro (Editor in Chief of Elle Decor) introduced and thanked designers, staffers and board members for their participation. The design crowd of more than 200 were served a variety a wines, tray pass appetizers and buffet style munchies during the 2 hour party. Mark your calendars for April 24th – you won’t want to miss this celebrated event.
